The star: Vitaly Fridzon
Vitaly Fridzon - BC KhimkiA homegrown talent who turned into a star, BC Khimki team captain Vitaly Fridzon has a unique opportunity to try to lift the Eurocup trophy on his team's home court at the 2012 Eurocup Finals. Fridzon arrived to Khimki's second team in the 2004-05 season, but was immediately promoted to the senior squad that year. By 2006, Fridzon had already played for the Russian national team and helped Khimki make the FIBA EuroCup title game.

Just like his team, Fridzon made his Eurocup debut in 2006-07 and helped Khimki lift the Russian Cup trophy in 2008, the year in which he played at the Beijing Olympic Games. A great slasher with determination, deep shooting range and a team-oriented mentality, Fridzon has slowly but steadily become a silent leader for his team.

In 2009, Fridzon had 14 points and a game-high 8 rebounds to lead Khimki to a 79-73 win against iurbentia Bilbao in the Eurocup semifinals. Despite his 11-point effort in the final, Fridzon could not get Khimki past Lietuvos Rytas in the title game.

Fridzon, who became team captain in 2010-11, has played two Turkish Airlines Euroleague seasons with Khimki and won a bronze medal with Russia at EuroBasket 2011. With the Eurocup Finals taking place in its own arena, Khimki has a golden chance to get its first continental crown, and if that happens, Fridzon – eight years after first joining the team as a teenager – will have the honor of lifting the trophy!
