Palaverde, the home of the 2011 Eurocup Finals
Palaverde, TrevisoThe famed Palaverde is one of Italy’s storied basketball venues, bringing together a rich history and all the comforts of a modern multi-purpose arena. Though its chief tenant, Benetton Basket Bwin, has been one of European basketball’s elite clubs over the past several decades, the Eurocup Finals represent the Palaverde’s first opportunity to crown a continental champion. The Palaverde was built in the early 1980s and inaugurated in September 1983. Sports have always been one of its main uses and local volleyball power Sisley Volley has hosted its games there since 1987. Additionally, tennis, karate and dancing competitions have also booked the arena for events. A seating capacity of over 6,000, extensive parking and luxurious facilities for band members have made the Palaverde a stop for major concerts, with the likes of Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, The Cure, Oasis, The Cranberries and Marilyn Manson among the artists to perform there.

As the home to Benetton Basket since its inception, the Palaverde is basketball-centric, complete with all the trappings for a great experience for players and fans alike. Built into the ground, the Canadian Maplewood court is some 15 meters below street level, creating an eye-opening experience as fans enter the arena. Its clever layout ensures that all 5,144 seats when set up for basketball offer an unobstructed view of the action and the four giant screens attached to the scoreboard above centercourt further enhance the experience. There are also three VIP lounges, complete with bartending facilities. Remodeled dressing rooms for teams and referees give the participants maximum comfort. The arena is also equipped with a state-of-the-art weight room plus a physician’s area. And of course the press room and TV interview sections allow for hundreds of media members to work in harmony. Together, there is little doubt that the Palaverde is an ideal setting to crown the next Eurocup champion.
