Lietuvos Rytas champ again!
Lietuvos Rytas is once again the Eurocup champion! L. Rytas became the first team to win a second Eurocup title - and sealed its Euroleague ticket for the upcoming 2009-10 regular season - by downing BC Khimki Moscow region 80-74 in the final on Sunday, rewriting competition history in the process. L. Rytas Khimki rounded a perfect weekend in which it has previously downed Benetton Basket Tamoil and Hemofarm Stada to make it to the final. In its last three appearances in the competition, Rytas won two titles and also made it to the 2007 final. Marijonas Petravicius led the winners and earned Final Eight MVP honours with 20 points on 8-for-9 two-pointers. Steponas Babrauskas added a career-high 18 points while Chuck Eidson had 14 for L. Rytas.

In just his third season in European club competitions, Eidson simply dominated the Eurocup and led L. Rytas to the Final Eight despite changing position in midseason. Eidson was unstoppable in his normal role as small forward throughout the regular season.

INTERVIEW: MINDAUGAS LUKAUSKIS
Along with two other Final Eight teams that have won Europe's second club competition over the previous five years, Lietuvos Rytas will arrive to Turin, Italy with the chance to add a second continental trophy to its case. Only one player remains from the L. Rytas team that lifted the ULEB Cup trophy in 2005, versatile combo guard Mindaugas Lukauskis, one of those players who brings so much energy to the floor that all his contributions cannot be measured in statistics.
