Alba Berlin head coach: Luka Pavicevic
Luka Pavicevic - Alba BerlinA three-time Euroleague winner as a player, Alba Berlin head coach Luka Pavicevic is now trying to guide his team to its own taste of glory, the Eurocup title. Like a number of his former Jugoplastika Split teammates, Pavicevic took to the sidelines after retiring as a player. He started coaching with OKK Beograd and Atlas Beograd in Serbia before joining Hemofarm in 2005. The next season, Pavicevic helped Hemofarm reach the Serbia and Montenegro Cup final and the ULEB Cup semifinals, only to lose to Aris on a last-second shot. Pavicevic advanced to the Greek League semifinals with Panionios in 2007 before joining Alba. Now in his third season in Berlin, Pavicevic has consistently guided Alba to the top of the German League’s regular season standings. They won the German League title in 2008 and lifted the German Cup trophy in 2009, the year in which he also took Alba to the Euroleague Top 16. An old-school coach, Pavicevic's teams play in his mold – tough on defense, patient on offense and incredibly determined. Alba has not won a European trophy since 1995, but with Pavicevic leading the way, this could be the year.
