The Take

Among three games on Wednesday, Unics Kazan (4-2) hosts Banvit Bandirma (3-3) in a high-profile clash to open the group's action. Unics holds a 5-0 record in head-to-head meetings with Banvit, all this decade, including a 79-85 decision in Bandirma earlier this season. Since that Round 2 game, however, Banvit has won three of four, and in the last three weeks has scored 86.7 points on average. In addition, Banvit is leading the competition by pulling down 16.2 offensive rebounds per game. Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (2-4) welcomes group co-leader Aris Thessaloniki (4-2) to the Montenegran capital for its first official visit there. Buducnost has committed Eurocup-high 100 turnovers through six games, and will need to cut down on that average of 16.7 against Aris, which makes only 11.5 turnovers per contest and holds opponents to a league-low 24.5% three-point shooting. In a battle of newcomers, Trabzonspor Medical Park (3-3) hosts Steaua CSM Eximbank Bucharest (2-4). Trabzonspor has won all three of its home games so far, while Steaua is still waiting for a first road victory, but defeated Trabzonspor 76-71 in their first meeting back in Round 2.

Quotes Head Coaches

JOVOVIC, IGOR
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"We'll have to be very good in defense and very clever to stop their movable game. If we can be strong and patient, then we will control rhythm of the game. It will not be easy, but we have to give our best and try to make a very important victory."
PRIFTIS, DIMITRIS
Aris Thessaloniki
"Buducnost is a tough team, with experienced players. It’s first in Adriatic League, a competition with good and experienced teams. Also, our opponent won Unics Kazan at home. It will be a very difficult game and we must be focused and have quality in our performance for 40 minutes. We must not allow easy points, so we must be careful in transition game and defensive rebounds. Also, we must reduce our turnovers. The three point shooting will be a key factor. If we win this game, we’ll be very close to qualify in the next round. The game is a final for Buducnost, maybe their last chance for the qualification. We must have high level of energy to compete against them. They have many players that can cause damage and for me the top passer in the Eurocup, Omar Cook."

Players

RIKIC, ROBERT
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"Aris is a very good team, aggressive, good athletic. In Thessaloniki They were better in almost every aspect of basketball game. We must respond to the good running, good defense and I hope that we will finally celebrate. We invite all who can come in hall to support us and we'll respond good fight and hopefully win. "
SYMTSAK, VASSILIS
Aris Thessaloniki
"Our opponent has one of its last chances for the qualification and that makes our task even more difficult. If we win, we make a big step to continue to the next round, so this game is important for us too. We must guard effectively Omar Cook, like we did in the first game. We must play good in transition and control the rebounds. We’ll play in a hot atmosphere, so we must be focused."

Head Coaches

JOVOVIC, IGOR
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"We were aware that Aris is a high-quality team that we were demolished in Greece. But we played better then Aris in Thessaloniki. The first half was awesome, the opponent was brought into a dilemma and they did not know what and how to defend us. Maric's injury caused nervousness, but we again found our good form at the end of the game. "
PRIFTIS, DIMITRIS
Aris Thessaloniki
"Congratulations to Buducnost, they played a great game, especially in the first half and in the first quarter. We couldn't do anything! We struggled in the second half to get back in the game, we combined different defenses. I'm sorry that we did not manage to catch up. We will now look at the next game."

Players

SEHOVIC, SEAD
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"We played our best half of the season and we will try to maintain that rhythm in other games. We can expect a tough schedule, and now we are proud that we managed to overcome opponents by more than 18 points. We know how to play better and better, and we just need to continue like this."
XANTHOPOULOS, VASSILIS
Aris Thessaloniki
"Congratulations to Buducnost. They were better than us, they deserve a victory more than we do. We were terrible in the first half, we did not play as expected in defense. They were able to get a greater difference. I wish Aleks Maric all the best for his recovery."
