Trabzonspor Medical Park rallied from a 14-point deficit to down Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia 82-76 at home on Wednesday. Trabzonsport went up to 2-1 in Group K while Reggio Emilia dropped to 2-1. Veremeenko and Candan traded layups but Polonara had 5 points in a 0-7 run that gave the guests an 8-14 lead. Stipanovic shined with a tip-in, De Nicolao downed a jumper and Kitchen kept the hosts within 12-16. Darjus Lavrinovic struck from downtown and a driving layup by Aradori made it a nine-point game, 12-21. Stipanovic scored again and a corner three-pointer by Hardy gave Trabzonspor hope at 17-23. Della Valle took over with a catch-and-shoot triple in transition, Ojars Silins added a fast break dunk and Golubovic scored down low for a 17-31 Reggio Emilia lead after 10 minutes. Sertac Sanli hit a jump hook early in the second quarter that Stefano Gentile bettered with a three-pointer. Lavrinovic nailed a baseline jumper and Polonara bettered Stipanovic's layup with a three-point play. Silins and Kitchen traded baskets and Hardy buried a big triple to fix the halftime score at 39-48.

Canday split free throws after the break and another layup by Stipanovic gave the hosts hope at 42-48. Veremeenko stepped up with a layup and Aradori added back-to-back baskets to keep Reggio Emilia out of trouble, 44-54. It didn't last long, however, as a three-pointer by Saruhan sparked a 10-0 run which Gulaslan capped with his own bomb from downtown to tie it at 54-54. Aradori scored again but Hardy joined the three-point shootout and Gulaslan gave Trabzonspor at 59-56. Lavrinovic made free throws but another close basket by Stipanovic restored a 61-58 Trabzonspor edge after 30 minutes. Golubovic scored down low early in the fourth quarter and Lavrinovic split free throws, but Reggio Emilia went scoreless for over 4 minutes after that. Meanwhile, a three-point play by Hardy and a bomb from downtown by Saruhan ignited an 11-0 run which Sanli capped with free throws, 74-61, enough to seal the outcome. Both teams started to fight for points differential, a critical issue in all Last 32 groups. Della Valle stepped up with a three-point play and got plenty of help from Aradori and Veremeenko to make Reggio Emilia erased its deficit to 82-76.

"This was a very important game for us for different reasons. First of all basketball reasons, for our position in the competition and of second importance was that we were missing two players: one for injury, which is norma,l but the other was the major issue in the Kulig family. He is a great guy and we wish them the best. In the first quarter we played bad defense and second quarter was slightly better. But our defensive performance in the second half won us the game. I always say that if you play hard on defense, it will give you rhythm on offense. "
MENETTI, MASSIMILIANO
Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia
"It was tough game. We played great for 25 minutes, but in the thirrd quarter everything changed. Trabzon was very good. Next week they will come to us and we have to win that game."

Players

SANLI, SERTAC
Trabzonspor Medical Park
"It was an important game for us for our position in the group. We wanted to be on top. We prepared well, but we didn’t start well. In the second half we were very aggressive in defense. We won a great game against a great opponent."
SILINS, OJARS
Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia
"We started the game well; our first half was great offensively, but in the second half we started to slow down and they won the offensive rebounds and found their rhythm. "
