The Take

This is the only group in which no team has qualified yet. The most critical game is played in Turkey, where Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul (3-2) hosts Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari (3-2). Galatasaray is first - and CAI Zaragoza (3-2) second - if it beats Sassari. Galatasaray is second if it loses and Szolnoki Olaj (1-4) beats CAI, and is eliminated if it loses and CAI wins. CAI has a chance to be first if it wins and Sassari downs Galatasaray. CAI is second if Galatasaray wins, no matter its own result, and will be eliminated with a loss if Sassari wins. Unlike Galatasaray and CAI, Sassari cannot qualify with a loss. Sassari is first if it wins and Szolnoki wins, second if it wins and CAI beats Szolnoki, and out if it loses.

Quotes Head Coaches

POR, PETER
Szolnoki Olaj
"We host a great team again in a game that we try to get some sort of revenge for the defeat we had in Zaragoza. We are out of the cup, so our aim is to bid a good farewell to the series we learned in a lot. We respect the spirit of fair play so we try to get a win in our last match."
CASADEVALL, ANDREU
CAI Zaragoza
"This is a crucial game for us. The team has never qualifed into the eighthfinals so this is a historic match. We should come out to the court very serious and play like we have done in the last two games: displaying a hard defense with a lot of energy and intensity. Szolnoki is a very hard place: Banco di Sardegna Sassari lost by eleven points and Galatasaray Odeabank suffered thirty minutes. Altough Szolnoki Olaj could not qualify yet, we’re sure they want to end their Eurocup season the best way possible. Even more in front their fans."

Players

WITTMANN, KRISZTIAN
Szolnoki Olaj
"As we already know that this is our last game in the Eurocup this season, we try to finish on a high note, possibly with a win. We suffered a huge loss in Zaragoza, in a game that we started badly, so the first quarter will be important. Our opponent will be totally motivated but so do we, in front of our fans we try to get a nice exit."
NOREL, HENK
CAI Zaragoza
"We’re focused and know what we have to do: win this game. We shouldn’t think about what’s happening in Istanbul. We’re very close to a great goal for the club and we’re looking forward to make that step. It will be hard but we have showed during the whole Eurocup we’re able to get wins far from home. That’s what we want: play our best basketball and win this game."

Milosevic stepped up with a layup that Fotu bettered with a three-point play and Bellas struck from downtown to make Szolnoki call timeout at 41-49. Vojvoda tried to change things with consecutive baskets and improved Norel's dunk with a three-point play that brought the hosts as close as 48-51. Wittmann banked in a shot in transition but Norel followed a slam with a tip-in in a 0-7 run that Jelovac capped with a triple for a 50-58 CAI lead. Vojvoda followed a triple with a layup but Jelovac and Sek Henry kept the guests ahead, 57-63, after 30 minutes. Vojvoda hit another three-pointer but all CAI players were already celebrating a historical win!

Head Coaches

POR, PETER
Szolnoki Olaj
"We fought well in our last game in the group and despite our loss, we cannot be disappointed. We made the match hard for Zaragoza, they had to dig deep to win in our gym."
CASADEVALL, ANDREU
CAI Zaragoza
"We had some defensive issues in the first half, specially when Milosevic and David Vojvoda played one on one. After the interval we moved the ball better, had some extra passes, moved better on offense and made our shots."

Players

KELLER, AKOS
Szolnoki Olaj
"This game proved how crucial is Strahinja Milosevic for us: he was good on offense and defense, made some great speeches during the match, shared his passion with us. We started the match well but Zaragoza clawed back, made some changes in defense and at the end they were the better team."
JELOVAC, STEVAN
CAI Zaragoza
"I have to congratulate to my teammates, we made history by getting into the eighthfinals. I think we did a good job in defending Milosevic and Vojvoda, although the latter scored a lot in the second half."
