Quotes Head Coaches

MARKOPOULOS, SOULIS
PAOK Thessaloniki
"We play our first Eurocup home game against a very strong and well put together team, like Zielona Gora that played the Euroleague last year and was very close to winning its participation in the same competition this year as well. They are a very strong team that plays tough defense and really tries to run and open up its game in the transition. I think that their defeat in the first game as well as the score margin does not reflect the real potential of our opponent. We began with a very important victory in Izmir and to make this result even more substantial, we need one more victory, this time in our home court. This is a totally different game though, against a different team, but victory is what we want for sure to make one more step towards the first four seeded teams."

Players

LIAPIS, MICHAIL
PAOK Thessaloniki
"Zielona Gora is a very good team that was playing the Euroleague last season and aims very high with its participation in the Eurocup. They have experienced players with many years of European competitions experience. They are a team with good ball handlers, good shooters and a strong frontline. We need to remain focused in our defense, maintain communication within the game, pay special attention to defensive rebounds, since we’ve been having some issues in that aspect of the game lately, and make the right choices in our offense. If we do all that then we are going to win. I believe our victory in the first game in Izmir was very important after two extra periods and a victory tomorrow is going to practically substantiate the result. I think the competition is of a higher level, with stronger teams and this makes our job even more difficult, but also makes our participation in the Eurocup all the greater of a challenge."
PAOK downs Zielona Gora to go up to 2-0

Georgios Dedas and Vaughn allowed PAOK extend its margin to 28-20 early in the second quarter. Koszarek stepped up with a layup and Hosley dunked twice but Michail Liapis and Saloustros soon helped PAOK make it a double-digit game, 38-28. Head Coaches

"These Eurocup games are tough. My team showed character and my players remained focused. Our defense was the key weapon that created dangerous situations for the opposing basket. We built a difference early on and kept it to the end beating a very strong team that missed qualification to the Euroleague by two shots at the last minute. It's still very early on, I only hope we remain healthy. We'll have to see what happens with Odum's injury."
ADAMEK, ANDRZEJ
Stelmet Zielona Gora
"We knew it was going to be a very tough game, when you play against a team that won in Turkey in two overtimes and beat one of the group favorites, you have to expect a very tough game. We played a solid first quarter, but then we received too many threes and although we tried to keep up and maintained a decent margin until about two or three minutes to the end of the first half, things went down and the game ended for us. You cannot expect much when you shoot so poorly. "

Players

SALOUSTROS, CHRISTOS

"Our defense was the key factor to winning tonight’s game, it helped us overcome even Jake [Odum]’s injury. It was a very important victory that gives us the necessary boost for making the next round. I’m happy for our fans; they came and supported us and created a very warm atmosphere, that motivated us. I’m more interested in how I play defense than how many points I have scored, we have very good players to score. I think this was the best game I have played in my professional career."
