The Take

After consecutive road games Nizhny Novgorod (2-1) plays at home against Neptunas Klaipeda (1-2). One negative streak will have to give in this one, as Nizhny is yet to beat a team from Lithuania in an official game, while Neptunas has not won a game in Russia in European competitions. Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd(1-2) and Eurocup leading scorer Tony Mitchell host group leader Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul (3-0). The host team comes off a pair of losses, while undefeated Galatasaray looks to improve its record on Russian soil, where it is 1-8 all time. It is a clash of top-five offenses, as Galatasaray is tied for third with 90 points per game, while Oktyabr is fifth-best with 86.3 on average. AEK Athens (1-2) welcomes former champion Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem (1-2). The two teams have not met in 16 years, with AEK holding 7-1 all-time record. AEK big man Loukas Mavrokefalidis leads the competition in index rating (35.7). Both of Jerusalem's losses this season have come on the road, and club has lost 10 of its last 11 Eurocup road games dating back to 2013-14 campaign.

Quotes Head Coaches

BAGATSKIS, AINARS
Nizhny Novgorod
"We know that Neptunas is a very aggressive team and they will be up for this game. We had a big win over Khimki in VTB League less than 48 before this game but we can’t let ourselves get carried away. The upcoming game is just as important as anyone else."
ADOMAITIS, DAINIUS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"Nizhny Novgorod played well last season in the Euroleague and gained a lot of experience. They have many good shooters and play really good at home. They just defeated CSKA Moscow and Khimki, which proves their strength."

Players

RUDD, VICTOR

"We played Neptunas during preseason, but they added some depth since. It’s an important game for them but for us as well. We need to win to increase our chances to proceed to Last 32 stage."
MAZEIKA, MARTYNAS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"They are one of the top teams in the VTB League and they just defeated CSKA Moscow and Khimki. They are an impressive team with high ambitions. They also play great at home, where they are still undefeated this season."

Head Coaches

BAGATSKIS, AINARS
Nizhny Novgorod
"They were some doubts about our players’ condition ahead of this game. We were slow in the beginning, but still managed to collect points. But everything we gained on offense we lost on defense. In the final quarter we couldn’t make a shot seven times in a row. We didn’t make the right decisions. And we allowed Neptunas to get too many easy points from the free throw line."
ADOMAITIS, DAINIUS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"We knew that Nizhny might underestimate us a little bit after their big win over Khimki. And we wanted to increase the tempo of the game to find them unprepared. But in the first half they were in control. After the halftime break, we changed our defense, doubled-teamed Mahalbasic, and steal after a steal we got back in the game. I’m happy that tonight we found players who could play their best and sustain the level of our opponent."

Players

MAHALBASIC, RASID
Nizhny Novgorod
"It’s a tough loss for us. we had a big lead, but didn’t make shots in the fourth quarter. I take the blame as well. I hope Max Grigoryev can recover for our next game on Saturday. We’re still okay in terms of the standings, but it’s a loss we should not have had."
MAZEIKA, MARTYNAS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"For the last 15 minutes we played like our coach wants us to play. And our goal is to play like that for all 40 minutes. It’s a big win for us."
