The Take

In the Wednesday opener, Unics Kazan (2-2) hosts Trabzonspor Medical Park (3-1) for the first time. Unics is looking to bounce back after losing two straight. Trabzonspor's success comes with ball movement. Only one team has more than its 21.3 assists in the last three games, but Trabzonspor has lost its only road game of the season so far. Banvit Bandirma (1-3) welcomes Aris Thessaloniki (3-1). The hosts are the best offensive rebounding team, pulling down 15.8 of their own misses per game. But Aris has done a great job defensively. It ranks first in points allowed (67.5), in blocked shot (5.0) and three-point defense, allowing opponents just 20.7% accuracy from the three-point line. In addition, no team takes better care of the ball than Aris, which is tied for league-low 9.5 turnovers per contest. Newcomer Steaua CSM Eximbank Bucharest (1-3) plays Buducnost VOLI Podgorica (2-2) in the Romanian capital. Buducnost has never in its history played official game against a Romanian team. The Montenegrin champions allow the Eurocup's third-lowest 70.7 points per game, but that number rises to 75 points on the road.

Quotes Head Coaches

SAPERA, HRISTU
Steaua CSM EximBank Bucharest
"It is a really important game for both teams. In order to stay in the race for the second phase this is a must win game and we are fully focused on that. We were really close to get a win away last round and we want to get it now in front of our fans. Buducnost is a really tough and physical team, with a good coach and with many experienced players in their roster. It will be a strong game where we must control the boards as well as playing tough defense for 40 minutes."
JOVOVIC, IGOR
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"Steaua is a very good opponent, who has shown in previous games that can play with all teams in our group. They have a victory against Trabzonspor and against Aris in Thessaloniki they had the opportunity to win, which is not easy. They have Marko Marinovic, Aleksandar Rasic, Gerald Lee, Chris Cooper and several Romanian players that we have to respect. We have to play a good game, specialy in defense."

Players

SZIJARTO, LEVENTE
Steaua CSM EximBank Bucharest
"The last two games gave us the confidence we need in order to prepare an important game, like the one against Buducnost. Both us and them have contradictory results. In my opinion, it will be a challenging match, tough for both teams, but we will be helped again by the fantastic atmosphere from the Polyvalent hall. We have some great fans who come to see us and we need to offer them the victory!"
SEHOVIC, SEAD
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"To be able to hope for the win, we have to play much better in defense than against Partizan in the Adriatic League. We should play like against Unics, when we stopped them at 68 points."

Head Coaches

SAPERA, HRISTU
Steaua CSM EximBank Bucharest
"It was an important victory for us and it keeps us in the race for qualification. We need to play even better in the following games. It is good that we have all the players available and we managed to rotate 11 of them in this game. Each one of them played their role in this victory. The Eurocup is a tough competition, but we showed that we have a winning attitude. This season we have to do our best and learn for the coming years."
JOVOVIC, IGOR
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"We played very bad in the first half, when we had a soft defense. We showed good character and a much better game in the last two quarters. It was a very tough game, but we expected that, because we knew they have experienced players like Marinovic , Rasic, Cooper and Lee, who was our former player. It is hard to win in any arena in the Eurocup, but we still have a good situation. We have five more games to play and we need to do our best."
COOK, OMAR
Buducnost VOLI Podgorica
"We played like two different teams tonight. We were weak in defense, but I think in the second half we performed well. We managed to fight back, but we couldn’t get the win. We have three more games ahead at home and we need to do our best."
