Finals: Pamesa Valencia becomes first ULEB Cup champ!
Pamesa Valencia became the first ULEB Cup crown with a 78-76 victory over Krka Novo Mesto. Dejan Tomasevic took over early and registered an MVP performance to be remembered a long time: 28 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Although Krka came from 11 points down in the second half to take a lead in the final minutes, the trophy was not in doubt ever for Pamesa, which took a 12-point advantage from Game 1 into the second leg. Pamesa would not have its night diminished by a loss, either, as Pedro Robles drilled the game-winning three-pointer with under 5 seconds left to send the crowd going wild.
Pamesa Valencia took the upper hand in the ULEB Cup Finals by invading Novo Mesto, Slovenia, for a 78-90 victory over Krka in Game 1. A wild first half saw Krka lose all of a 9-point first-quarter lead and Pamesa lose an even bigger one, 13 points, in the second. Late in the third quarter, Pamesa broke the game open for good behind a pair of three-pointers by Alejandro Montecchia and another by Jose Antonio Paraiso that beat the buzzer. Nacho Rodilla led five Pamesa scorers in double figures with 15 points and Fabricio Oberto added 14. Jamie Arnold finished with 28 points for Krka.
