Week 4 MVP: Darius Washington, Galatasaray Cafe Crown
Just when his team needed it most, a second Galatasaray Cafe Crown player this season earned the Eurocup weekly MVP as point guard Darius Washington guided his team to victory with the highest performance index rating in the competition so far this season! Washington was everywhere as Galatasaray turned back Alba Berlin by 93-79 at home in Istanbul on Tuesday. It was Alba's first loss and denied it early qualification to the Last 16. Washington shined with 31 points on near-perfect shooting: 10 of 12 two-pointers, 2 of 3 triples and 5 of 5 free throws. He added 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 7 fouls drawn to amass a 45 index, which tied for the seventh-best performance in the seven-year history of the competition. Following him with the week's second-best performance came Hasan Rizvic of Azovmash Mariupol, who led his team to its first Eurocup win of the season with a 39 index rating. Rizvic helped Azovmash beat Banca Tercas Teramo 90-82 with 24 points on 11-for-12 two-point shooting, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. Next, Sammy Mejia of Cholet Basket paced his team to a critical 79-70 home win against Crvena Zvezda with 35 points on 5-of-6 three-pointers, 3 rebounds and 5 fouls drawn, good for a 38 index rating. Kostas Charalampidis of Panellinios, with an index rating of 37, finished fourth, while Drake Diener of Teramo and Michael Wright of PGE Turow, each with a 36 index, completed the top individual performances of Week 4.
