NYMBURK: Hanavan brought in for versatility
Perennial Czech League champions CEZ Basketball Nymburk have signed forward Ian Hanavan for the upcoming season. Hanavan (202, 28) arrives from BK Prostejov, where he averaged 18 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.2 steals in 26 Czech League games last season, helping Prostejov make it to the Czech League semifinals. Hanavan has also played for Antwerp Diamond Giants and Leuven in Belgium, as well as for Omniworld Almere in Holland, where he was the Dutch League's leading rebounder in 2004. "You cannot refuse an offer from a signature club not only in the Czech Republic, but in Europe," Hanavan said. "I am ready to fight every time I step on court. I want to win the Czech League and would like to do the same in the Eurocup next season."
