CHOLET Basket tabs guard Jose Olivero
Jose Olivero signs with Cholet BasketCholet Basket capped a busy week of signings Friday with the addition of guard Jose Olivero to the club. Olivero (186, 24) is the third player to join the club this week after John Linehan and Alex Barnett. He arrives from French second division club Le Portel, for whom he recorded 17.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last season. He began his European career with Siauliai in Lithuania, where he averaged 8.1 points and 1.6 assists in 10 ULEB Cup games during the 2007-08 campaign. Olivero played college basketball at Lehigh University, where he was a two-time First-Team All-Patriot League selection and finished as the school’s fifth all-time leading scorer with 1,762 career points. He led his team in scoring after both his junior and senior seasons. Olivero has been named to the preliminary squad for the Dominican Republic national team that will compete at the FIBA Americans championships this summer.
