GRAN CANARIA: James Augustine re-signs
James Augustine – Gran CanariaGran Canaria and power forward James Augustine agreed to terms on a contract that will keep them together for another season, the club announced Tuesday. Augustine (208, 25) averaged 8 points and 6 rebounds in the Spanish League and 7 points and 5.3 rebounds in the Eurocup for Gran Canaria last season, his first in Europe. He previously spent parts of two seasons in the NBA with Orlando. Augustine was a college basketball star at the University of Illinois, with whom he reached the NCAA championship game in 2005 as a junior. Augustine was named to the All-Big 10 first team the next year when he averaged 13.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He finished his college basketball career as the school's all-time leading rebounder with 1,023 boards.

"We are very pleased to have renewed with James Augustine," Gran Canaria sporting director Ojeda Himar said. "From the beginning, James said he wanted to come back and here he is. Last season was his first year in Europe and he did a good job. We know that he will help us even more next season."
