AZOVMASH extends Marius Prekevicius
Reigning Ukrainian League champion Azovmash Mariupol announced that guard Marius Prekevicius signed a contract extension Thursday that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2009-10 season. Prekevicius (195, 25) joined Azovmash last March and averaged 10.1 points and 3.5 assists in 11 Ukrainian League games, helping the club to lift the trophy. Prekevicius started the 2008-09 season with Lietuvos Rytas, where he averaged 1.5 points in six Eurocup games and helping the team to lift the Lithuanian Cup and the Baltic Presidents' Cup trophies. He has also played for Siauliai and Sakalai in his native Lithuania, as well as for Anwil Wloclawek in Poland. He helped Anwil make it to the 2006 Polish League finals. Prekevicius is also a member of the Lithuanian national team and played at the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing, China. He also helped Lithuania win the bronze medal at the 2004 European under-20 Championships and got a silver medal at the 2008 World under-18 Championships. Prekevicius is now ready to get back to the Eurocup with a fourth different team - Anwil, Siauliai, L. Rytas and now Azovmash.
