BC TRIUMPH adds three Russian names
Nikita Shabalkin, to BC TriumphBC Triumph announced on Sunday the addition of three Russian players to the roster. Two players arrive at the forward spot - Nikita Shabalkin (23, 206) and Konstantin Nesterov (28, 205) - and one at center, Sergey Varlamov (25, 210). Shabalkin arrives from BC Khimki, where he reached the Eurocup Final last season, losing to Lietuvos Rytas. He played 9 Eurocup games where he averaged 2.8 points and 2.4 rebounds. Shabalkin grew up with Lokomotiv Mineralnye Vody and in 2002 he joined the junior team of CSKA Moscow. Hemoved to Samara for the 2004-05 season and then went back to CSKA, winning the 2006 Euroleague title in Prague, and back again to Samara until he joined Khimki for the 2007-08 campaign. He is a member of the Russian National Team, winning the 2007 EuroBasket, and has also collected domestic titles with CSKA Moscow.

Nesterov arrives from Spartak St. Petersburg where he averaged 10.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 22 Russian League games. Before that, he was in Unics Kazan, as he played the ULEB Cup in 2006-07 but seeing little playing time. Before that he had been in Lokomotiv Rostov, Arsenal Tula and Spartak St. Petersburg again, the club where he gew up as a player and made his debut in in 1997. Varlamov is a big man arriving from Ural Great Perm where last season he played 16 Russian League games with averages of 1.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in about 8 minutes per game. He has played in several Russian teams including Dynamo Moscow, Spartak St. Petersburg and Avtodor. He made his debut in 1999.
