GRAN CANARIA ties up prospect Alvarado
Gran Canaria announced an agreement with guard Oscar Alvarado (184, 18) for five seasons. Alvarado is one of the top talents coming off the inferior categories of the Spanish club, and will now make his jump to the first team to play pro ball. Alvarado was one of the top players last season in the Nike International Junior Tournament, leading his team to take the Città di Roma title, earning the squad a spot in the Berlin Final Four, where the final pahse of the tournament took place. In Rome, Alvarado averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 assists per game. Aside from the Gran Canaria Junior team, Alvarado also helped the Sub20 and EBA teams of the club with a leading role. He was also part of the U18 Spanish national team in the France EuroBasket where he averaged 2.8 points and 1.3 assists per game.
