GRAN CANARIA tabs guard Tomas Bellas
Gran Canaria signed young playmaker Tomas Bellas to a two-year deal. Bellas (185, 22) arrives from Spanish second division side Caceres 2016, where he averaged 5 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game last season. A native of Madrid, Bellas grew up in the Real Madrid youth system and played for that club’s farm team in 2007-08.
"Bellas is a young player with great ability to defend and lead," Gran Canaria sporting director Himar Ojeda said. "This is a player with great potential. We have been following him for several seasons and now we’ll take a chance on him, as we once did with Mario Fernandez."
"I am delighted to be here and I really want to do well," Bellas said. "We are a competitive team and prepared to do great things. I come to help the group and give the maximum possible and, above all, I want to improve and take this great opportunity. I think this is a great place to grow and improve as a player."
