CRVENA ZVEZDA signs Maurice Bailey
Crvena Zvezda improved its roster for the upcoming 2009-10 Eurocup season by inking point guard Maurice Bailey, who inked a one-year deal with the Serbian powerhouse, the club confirmed Monday. Bailey (183, 28) arrives from Spartak Primorie, where he averaged 15.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 22 Russian League games last season. Bailey also played for Union Olimpija in Slovenia, Lokomotiv Rostov in Russia, as well as for Etendard de Brest and Sluc Nancy in France. He helped Olimpija to win the 2008 Slovenian Cup title and also made it to the French League final with Nancy in 2005 and 2006. "This is the first time I play for Red Star but I knew a lot about the club before I came here. The reputation of his club is great and I think I will fit in right away," Bailey said. "I worked with Aca Petrovic in Russia and it is a great pleasure to meet him again. I also plaued with Filip Videnov, so adjustment will not be an issue."
