BK VENTSPILS adds forward Ernests Kalve
Ernests Kalve joins BK VentspilsLatvian champion BK Ventspils added forward Ernests Kalve for the coming season with a team option for a second year. Kalve (203, 22) spent last season with ASK Riga, averaging 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in the Eurocup. He also produced 10 points and 4.2 rebounds in the Baltic League and 14.8 points and 5.4 boards in the Latvian League. Kalve is a product of the Benetton Treviso youth system and he made a handful of Euroleague appearances for that club as a teenager in the 2005-06 season. He spent the 2006-07 season in Germany with Giessen before joining Riga two years ago. Kalve also represented the Latvian national team this past summer at EuroBasket 2009. Ventspils also announced the it released forward Martins Berkis, who averaged 1.5 points in limited action in the Euroleague Qualifying Rounds.
