BILBAO, coach Vidorreta part ways
Despite his team's undefeated status in the Eurocup. Txus Vidorreta has stepped down from his head coaching job in Bizkaia Bilbao Basket, the club confirmed Sunday. Vidorreta had been the team's head coach for the last nine years, helping the team to go all the way from the Spanish third division to become a playoff contender and make it to the Eurocup semifinals last season. A road loss in the Spanish League on Sunday put Bilbao Basket in 17th place with a 4-13 record. Vidorreta put his job at the club's disposal and Bilbao accepted his resignation, ending an extraordinary era in the club by mutual agreement. A press conference will take place in Bilbao tomorrow. Meanwhile, assistant coach Rafa Pueyo will coach Bilbao in its upcoming Eurocup road game against Spartak St. Petersburg. Bilbao has qualified for the Last 16 round in the competition and already clinched first place in Group E as one of just three undefeated teams in the competition.
