PANELLINIOS BC inks forward Owens
Chris Owens - BC Donetsk (Photo: bc.donetsk.ua)Amid growing injury problems in its frontcourt, Panellinios BC added experience and athleticism at the forward position by signing Chris Owens. The veteran arrives from Ukrainian side BC Donetsk and will play in the Eurocup for the third time. Owens (203, 30) last played in the Eurocup in the 2007-08 season, helping Galatasaray Café Crown reach the semifinals. With Panellinios 2-1 in Last 16 Group K, Owens and Panellinios have a good chance of reaching the quarterfinals. Owens will help make up for the loss of Britton Johnson to injury. Josh Davis was also sidelined recently. Owens averaged 12 points and 5.6 rebounds for Galatasaray and posted 15 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots for Alba Berlin the previous season. Owens has also played professionally for Pallacanestro Trapani in Italy, CB Granada in Spain and Panionios Athens in Greece.
