John Patrick - BG Goettingen (Photo: FIBA Europe / Ciamillo-Castoria)BG Goettingen reached an agreement with head coach John Patrick to extend his contract until the end of the 2010-11 season, the club announced Tuesday. Patrick, age 42, started to coach Goettingen back in 2003, when the club was in the German second division. Even though he left to coach Toyota Alvark in Japan, Patrick returned to Goettingen in 2006. In just four years, Patrick had led Goettingen to go from the German second division to become the 2010 EuroChallenge champion. Patrick has been chosen as the German League's best coach twice in a row. He has also coached Zexel Bosch Blue Winds in Japan, as well as being a former player.

"The great support from all sides here in Goettingen makes it impossible for me to go," Patrick said. "Especially since our loss in the German League playoffs - we feel we still have some unfinished work to go. If we want to be successful next season, we will have to work very hard in the next two months. There is a lot of work ahead."
