OLDENBURG signs Robin Smeulders
EWE Baskets Oldenburg has his first new face for the upcoming 2010-11 season, none other than forward Robin Smeulders, who inked a two-year deal with the German powerhouse on Wednesday. Oldenburg keeps an option to extend his contract even further. Smeulders (208, 22) arrives from the University of Portland, where he just finished his four-year college career. He averaged 12.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in 32 NCAA games last season, making it to the All-WCC first team. Smeulders has been a member of the Dutch under-18 and under-20 national teams but will soon receive German citizenship. "I am very happy that Robin chose to play for us. He had a good college career and is expected to develop his game with us, step by step," Oldenburg head coach Predrag Krunic said.
