BANVIT keeps five core players
Lance Williams - Banvit (Photo: FIBA Europe / Walter Saenen)Banvit has announced that five of its most important players - Lance Williams, Keith Simmons, Chuck Davis, Baris Oczan and Baris Ermis - have extended their respective contracts and will be able to help their team in its upcoming Eurocup debut in the 2010-11 season. All five players helped Banvit to reach the Turkish League semifinals for the first time in club history. Ermis (194, 25) averaged 11.1 points, 4.1 assists and 2.4 steals in 34 Turkish League games this season. He has also played for Turk Telekom, Pinar Karsiyaka, Efes Pilsen, Besiktas and Pertevniyal in his native Turkey, where he has also been a member of his national team. Ermis helped Efes to win the Turkish League title in 2005 and also lifted the Turkish League trophy in 2006. Williams (206, 30) averaged 14.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in 37 Turkish League games last season. He has Eurocup experience, as Williams averaged 19.4 points in 12 games with Bosna Sarajevo in the 2007-08 season. Williams has also played for AEL Larissa in Cyprus, Westchester Wildfire in the USBL, Shougang Beijing Ducks in China, Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, Rockford Lightning in the CBA and ITU Istanbul in Turkey. Simmons (196, 25) averaged 11 points and 5.3 rebounds in 35 Turkish League games last season. He has also played for Deutsche Bank Skyliners in Germany and Kepez Bld Antalya in Turkey. Davis (202, 26) averaged 13.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 35 Turkish League games last season. He has also played for Aliaga Belediyesi and Casa TED Kolejliler Ankara in Turkey, as well as for BC Oostende in Belgium. Ozcan (192, 29) averaged 11.2 points and 2.3 assists in 28 Turkish League games last season. Ozcan has also played for Turk Telekom, Besiktas, Tuborg and Oyak Renault. He helped Telekom to win the Turkish Cup and reach the Turkish League finals in 2008 and has been a member of his national team.
