Markoishvili (195, 23) averaged 12.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 35 Italian League games last season, helping Cantu to make it to the Italian League semifinals for the first time in five years. He has also played for BC Kyiv in Ukraine, Union Olimpija in Slovenia, Benetton in Italy, Mitteldeutscher in Germany and Basco Batumi in his native Georgia, to which he helped to win back-to-back league titles in 2001 and 2002. Markoishvili played the 2003 Euroleague final with Benetton at age 16 and won the Italian League title that season. He lifted the 2004 FIBA Europe Cup title in 2004 and also lifted Slovenian League and Slovenian Cup trophies with Olimpija in 2005 and 2006. Markoishvili has also been a member of the Georgian national team. "Manuchar strongly wanted to stay in Cantu and with this confirmation we have been able to keep a very valuable piece in our roster for the next two season", Cantu president Alessandro Corrado said.
