CANTU extends Vladimir Micov
Alan Anderson and David Bluthenthal - Maccabi Electra and Vladimir Micov - Caja LaboralNGC – Bennet Cantu announced a new agreement with small forward Vladimir Micov, who extended his contract until the end of the 2010-11 season. Micov (203, 25) arrived to Cantu midway through last season, averaging 11.8 points, 2.6 assists and 2 steals in 24 games and helping his new club to reach the Italian League semifinals for the first time in five years. Micov had started the 2009-10 season with Caja Laboral, averaging 4.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 7 Euroleague games but was released once Walter Herrmann and Brad Oleson recovered from their respective injuries. He has also played for Panionios in Greece, Buducnost in Montenegro and Lavovi 063 Beograd, OKK, Beopetrol and Nova Pazova in Serbia. Micov helped Buducnost to win back-to-back Montenegrin League titles and lift three straight Montenegrin Cup trophies before joining Panionios in March 2009. "We are very happy to be able to keep a first-level European level like Vladimir. We announced our intention to keep the core of players that helped us to dream last season and Micov is an important first step towards that goal," Cantu president Alessandro Corrado said right after the agreement.
