CANTU keeps shooter Maarty Leunen
Maarty Leunen - NGC-Bennet Cantu (Photo: pallacanestrocantu.com)NGC-Bennet Cantu re-signed another important piece from last season's squad that reached the Italian League semifinals, inking forward Maarty Leunen for an additional season. Leunen (206, 24) averaged 12.6 points on 46.3% three-point shooting and 5.7 rebounds per game for Cantu last season. He joins Vladimir Micov and Manuchar Markoishvili as players that Cantu has already retained from its 2009-10 team. Leunen played four years of college basketball for the University of Oregon, during which he selected to represent Team USA at the 2007 Pan American Games. Leunen was named Second Team All-Pac-10 as a senior at the end of the 2007-08 season. He began his professional career in Turkey with Darusssafaka Cooper Tires before joining Cantu last year.
