ESTUDIANTES brings in Josh Asselin
Josh AsselinAsefa Estudiantes of Spain announced on Thursday the addition of center Josh Asselin (211, 31) to a one-year deal. Asselin arrives from CB Murcia where he averaged 8 points and 6 rebounds in over 23 minutes per game. He started the season in Cajasol but was traded midway through the season to BC Donetsk of Ukraine before going to Murcia. Asselin played college ball in Michigan from 1997 to 2001 and then moved to Spain to play one year in the second division with Rosalia de Castro. After that, he moved to France to play with the Stade Clermontois. He was back to the United States on 2003-04 to play with the Roanoke Dazzle of the NBDL, and that season he also played in Venezuela and Puerto Rico. He was back to Spain the next season first with Caceres in 2004-05 and later with Cantabria Lobos in 2005-06. In May of 2006 he joined Pau-Orthez of France but during the summer he was back to the Spanish second division to sign with Ricoh Manresa, starting his best stint as a player. In his first year in Manresa, he led the team to the ACB again with his 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. In the Spanish League, he spent two more seasons in Manresa being a key player both years for the team. After that, the interest of other Spanish League teams led him to Seville to join Cajasol for the start of last season.
