PANELLINIOS inks Vangelis Sklavos
Vangelis SklavosIn its first move following the hiring of Thanassis Skourtopoulos as head coach, Panellinios signed experienced big man Vangelis Sklavos to a one-year deal, the club announced Tuesday. Sklavos (202, 32) arrives from Vanoli Cremona, where he averaged 6.4 points and 2.3 rebounds in 26 Italian League games last season. He played for Panellinios in the past, averaging 7.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in 10 ULEB Cup games in the 2007-08 season. Sklavos has also played for Solsonica Rieti in Italy, Valencia in Spain, Lokomotiv Rostov na Donu in Russia and Olympiacos, Panionios, Irakleio and Milonas Athens in his native Greece. He helped Olympiacos to make it to the Greek Cup final in 2004 and also reached the Spanish King's Cup title game with Valencia in 2006. Sklavos will play a key veteran role in Panellinios in the upcoming season.
