EWE BASKETS lands Lukauskis
EWE Baskets Oldenburg rounded out its roster for the 2010-11 season with the signing of two-time Eurocup winner Mindaugas Lukauskis, who arrives from French club Asvel Basket. Lukauskis (198, 31) averaged 8.1 points, 3.1 assists and was second in the Euroleague regular season with 2.3 steals in 10 games as a starter for Asvel last season. The veteran swingman is best known for the six seasons he played for Lithuanian powerhouse Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius, during which Lukauskis won a pair of Eurocup crowns. In addition to helping Asvel in the Euroleague, Lukauskis won the 2010 Semaine d'As with the team. Among his other career highlights are winning the Lithuanian League twice and the Baltic League three times with L. Rytas. Lukauskis has also played for the Lithuanian national team, with whom he reached the Olympic semifinals in 2008. At the club level, Lukauskis previously played for Alita Alytus, Sakalai and Kanlapilis Panevezys in his native Lithuania.
"Through the commitment of Mindaugas, our team gets an extra dose of experience," head coach Predrag Krunic said.
