PANELLINIOS signs Derrick Byars

Derrick Byars - Alba BerlinPanellinios keeps working hard to complete its roster before the start of the Eurocup season. On Friday, Panellinios announced the arrival of shooting guard Derrick Byars, who inked a one-year deal with his new club on Friday. Byars (202, 27) arrives from Alba Berlin, where he averaged 7.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in 16 Eurocup games last season. He helped Alba to go all the way to the Eurocup title game, losing against Power Electronics Valencia. Byars played college basketball at the University of Virginia and joined Vanderbilt University in 2004. He was chosen to the 2006-07 All-SEC first team and despite being drafted by NBA side Portland Trail Blazers, he went overseas and joined Koeln 99ers in Germany. Byars left Koeln once the team folded and joined Chorale Roanne in January 2008, averaging 8.8 points in 10 French League games. He has also played for Bakersfield Jam in the D-League before joining Alba. He helped Roanne to make it to the French League final in 2008.
