ANWIL completes roster with Hicks
Eric Hicks (Photo: FIBA Europe)Anwil Wloclawek finalized its roster for the new season with the signing of big man Eric Hicks. The sides agreed to a one-year contract. Hicks (200, 27) returns to the Eurocup for the first time since averaging 12.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for Base Oostende in the 2006-07 season. He ranked seventh in rebounding and fifth in blocks that season. Hicks arrives to Poland after sitting out last season due to personal reasons. He last played in the 2008-09 campaign, which he split between CSK-VVS Samara in Russia and Oostende in Belgium. Hicks was a standout college basketball player for the University of Cincinnati, where he was named to the All-Big East First Team after his senior season. Hicks also represented the United States at the 2005 World University Games. This will be Hicks's second stint in Poland after suiting up for Polpak Swiecie in the 2007-08 season, during which he played a major role in his team's upset of Anwil in the playoff quarterfinals.

"I watched him then and valued the work he did for his team," Anwil head coach Igor Griszczuk said. "He completely dominated the boards, which resulted in a favorable outcome for them. Hicks is the perfect player for my team."
