ASVEL BASKET signs sharpshooter Walsh
Matt Walsh - Union OlimpijaAsvel Basket picked up a premier scorer with signing of swingman Matt Walsh, who ranked third in the Euroleague regular season in scoring last season with 17.3 points per game for Union Olimpija. Walsh (199, 27) joined Aris BSA 2003 midway through last season and averaged 11.6 points and 6 rebounds over five Eurocup games, helping the team reach the quarterfinals. He made his European debut in Greece with Olimpia GE Larissa during the 2006-07 season and has also played for Manresa in Spain and Spirou Charleroi in Belgium, whom he helped to win back-to-back Belgian League titles in the 2008 and 2009, earning Belgian League finals MVP honors in the second of the two seasons. Walsh burst onto the Euroleague scene last year as the Euroleague regular season Week 2 co-MVP after drilling 7 of 9 three-pointers en route to 32 points and a 36 index.

"As has been the case throughout his career, Matt Walsh is a high scorer," Asvel Basket head coach Vincent Collet said. "He is an aggressive player who likes to shoot and play the pick-and-roll. Matt will give us solutions that we have been lacking on offense this season."
