Michael Meeks - BG Goettingen (Photo: FIBA Europe/Sven Marquardt)BG Goettingen added some vital experience to its roster before the start of the Eurocup season by signing veteran forward Michael Meeks, who was a part the club’s FIBA EuroChallenge-winning squad last season. Meeks (207, 38) signed a two-month deal with the Violets, but there is a team option to keep him for the remainder of the season. Last season he averaged 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 27 German League contests and 4.5 points in 15 EuroChallenge games, including 10 in the title game. Meeks has also played for Besancon in France, Darussafaka in Turkey, Fabriano and Reggio Calabria in Italy, Zadar in Croatia, Telekom Bonn in Germany, Unics Kazan in Russia, Bree in Belgium and CEZ Nymburk in the Czech Republic and competed with the Canadian national team at the 2000 Olympics and at the 1998 and 2002 World Championships.

"It was a necessary step to sign another player," head coach John Patrick said. "We wanted Mike back in Goettingen. Now that he is back, we are very happy to have such a well-experienced player in our team. He will help the young players with their development and will also help us on the court."
