PANELLINIOS picks up Smith at forward
Steven SmithPanellinios BS reinforced its frontline by picking up forward Steven Smith, who was released from fellow Eurocup side EWE Baskets Oldenburg last week. Smith (203, 27) appeared in two Eurocup games with Oldenburg, averaging 2.5 points and 2 rebounds in 13 minutes. Smith recorded 8.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 11 German League contests. Because he played for Oldenburg in the Eurocup Regular Season, he will not be eligible to join the Panellinios Eurocu roster until the start of the Last 16 round. By joining Panellinion, Smith returns in the Greek League after spending the 2008-09 season with Kolossos Rhodes. He played college basketball for La Salle University and was named twice the Atlantic-10 Conference Player of the Year. He has also played for Philadelphia in the NBA, Anaheim in the NBDL, CSF Seville in Spain, NS Rieti in Italy and Ironi Nahariya in Israel.
