GALATASARAY grabs playmaker Johnson
Galatasaray Café Crown fortified its backcourt for a Eurocup run with the signing of point guard Jerry Johnson, who arrives from Euroleague club Lietuvos Rytas. Johnson (183, 28) signed for the rest of the season. He did not play in the Euroleague this season due to a partial Achilles tendon tear in his right foot suffered just before the start of the season. He did however, average 6.3 points and 3.2 assists in six Lithuanian League games. Johnson is a Eurocup veteran who averaged 14.9 on 45.5% three-point shooting and 3.4 assists in 10 games for Spirou Charleroi during the 2008-09 season. He finished a successful college basketball career at Rider University as the Bronco’s No. 2 all-time leading scorer before coming to Europe and playing for SKS Starogard in Poland, Buyuksehir Belediyesi in Turkey and Stade Clermontaise Basket in France.
