VALENCIA keeps Pietrus
Florent Pietrus - Power Electronics ValenciaA former Eurocup winner will be back to the competition next season, as Valencia Basket reached an agreement with power forward Florent Pietrus to keep him in the team for one more year. Pietrus (2.02 meters, 30 years old) averaged 3.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 20 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season, in which Power Electronics made it to the Quarterfinal Playoffs and was one win away from reaching the Final Four. Pietrus started the season with Caja Laboral before getting back to Valencia, to which he had helped to win the Eurocup title in 2010. Pietrus has also played for Estudiantes and Unicaja in Spain, as well as for Pau-Orthez in France. He is one of the eight players to ever pull down 20 rebounds in a Euroleague game since the competition started in 2000. Pietrus helped Unicaja to win the 2005 Spanish King's Cup and the 2006 Spanish League titles. He also helped Pau-Orthez to win three French League and two French Cup titles, as well as winning the bronze medal with France at EuroBasket 2003. "We are very happy to keep Florent in the team. He is the kind of player that every coach would like to have in his team," Valencia sports director Toni Muedra said. "He gives you a lot of options due to his versatility, as he can do a lot of things on the court."
