VALENCIA BASKET signs Splitter
Tiago Splitter - Tau CeramicaValencia Basket fortified its lineup by signing Tiago Splitter. The three-time All-Euroleague center joins the club immediately and will play in both the Eurocup and Spanish League. Splitter (2.12 meters, 26 years old) spent the vast majority of his career in Spain. He played seven Euroleague seasons with Caja Laboral, which he helped reach four Final Fours and the 2005 Euroleague title game. Last season he signed with San Antonio of the NBA, where he averaged 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds in 60 games. In his last season in Europe, Splitter tallied 13 points and 5.4 rebounds in 16 games for Laboral in the 2009-10 campaign. He was an All-Euroleague first team selection in the 2007-08 season and a second team the following two years. Splitter grew up in Brazil, but came to Laboral as a teenager. He spent a total of three seasons on loan at Araba Gorago Alava and Bilbao Berri before joining the senior Laboral team as a teenager in 2003. During his time with the club, Splitter amassed two Spanish League titles and three Spanish King's Cups. Splitter is also a regular with the Brazilian national team, which he has led to gold medals at the Pan-American Games and South American and Americas Championships.
