LOKOMOTIV-KUBAN adds Simas Jasaitis
Simas Jasaitis - Galatasaray Cafe CrownA former champion is back to the Eurocup, as Lokomotiv-Kuban announced the arrival of small forward Simas Jasaitis, who inked a two-year deal with the Russian powerhouse on Friday. Jasaitis (2.01 meters, 30 years old) arrives from Turk Telekom Ankara, where he averaged 10.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in 20 Turkish League games last season. His last Eurocup experience came in the 2009-10 season, when he averaged 16.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 12 games with Galatasaray Cafe Crown. Jasaitis has also played for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, Joventut and Tau Ceramica in Spain, as well as for Lietuvos Rytas and Sakalai in his native Lithuania, where he is a regular member of his national team. Jasaitis won the Israeli League title with Maccabi in 2007. He also won two Lithuanian League titles in 2002 and 2006, as well as lifting the 2006 Baltic League, the 2002 NEBL and above all, the 2005 ULEB Cup trophies. Jasaitis replaces Lubos Barton, who inked a three-year deal with FC Barcelona. In 2007-08, Jasaitis helped Tau to win the Spanish League and the Spanish Supercup titles, as well as making it to the Euroleague Final Four. He also won respective bronze medals at EuroBasket 2007 and at 2010 FIBA World Championships with Lithuania. Jasaitis is set to play his fourth Eurocup season.
