BELGACOM SPIROU tabs Steinbach
Jorn SteinbachBelgacom Spirou Basket started to get ready for its Eurocup return in the 2012-13 season by inking guard Jorn Steinbach to a two-year deal, the club announced Monday. Steinbach (1.81 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Generali Okapi Aalstar, where he averaged 10.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals in 28 Belgian League games last season. Steinbach started his career with Bent Schoenen Waregem before joining Aalstar in March 2009. He has helped Aalstar to make it to the Belgian League final in 2011 and lifted the Belgian Cup trophy last season. In his only Belgian League game against Spirou in 2011-12, Steinbach had 13 points and 4 assists to lead Aalstar to a 77-76 win. Spirou has eight other players under contract: Andre Riddick, Justin Hamilton, Christophe Beghin, Demond Mallet, Sacha Massot, Boris Penninck, Jiri Welsch and Toko Shengelia.
