ORLEANS tabs forward Young
Orleans Loiret Basket added more fire power to its roster for the upcoming Eurocup season by inking small forward Jahmar Young to a one-year deal on Wednesday. Young (1.96 meters, 25 years old) arrives from BK Ventspils, where he averaged 15.3 points, 2 assists and 1.2 steals in 23 Latvian League games last season. He helped Ventspils to reach the Latvian League finals and the EuroChallenge quarterfinals. Young has also played for Crvena Zvezda Belgrade in Serbia and Belgacom Spirou Charleroi in Belgium. He helped Charleroi to win the Belgian League title in 2011. Young also has a successful career at New Mexico State University. He led the Aggies to win the Western Athletic Conference title, earning tournament MVP honors. Younh was chosen to the All-WAC first team in 2009 and 2010, when he averaged 20.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 34 NCAA games, right before starting his professional career.
