CEZ Basketball Nymburk
Few teams know the competition better than CEZ Basketball Nymburk, which reached the quarterfinals last season and wants to do even better in 2012-13. Its most veteran players in the Eurocup, such as Petr Benda, Christos Taputos, Miljan Pavkovic and Radek Necas will be its main core, along with A.J. Abrams, Mike Taylor, Aubrey Coleman and Drew Naymick. Nymburk has the depth, experience and talent needed to go deep in the competition, especially if its stays solid at home.
Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem
Always competitive and backed by a phenomenal fan base, Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem knows it needs to take one game at the time to have a long Eurocup season. Veteran guards Meir Tapiro and Raviv Limonad will be its floor generals and Hapeol relies on four new players - Josh Duncan, Jacob Pullen, Courtney Fells and Craig Smith - to be solid at all positions. Head coach Sharon Drucker, who led Hapoel to win the competition in 2004, is back in Jerusalem to lead the team.
A last-minute entry in the competition, Budivelnik Kiev hopes to be one of the last teams to leave the 2012-13 Eurocup, too. Giorgi Tsintsadze and Malcolm Delaney will offer quickness and fire power, veteran small forwards Dainius Salenga and Artur Drozdov are reliable options at both wings and Michailis Anisimovas and Leo Lyons will see most minutes around the baskets. Up-and-coming talent Konstantin Anikiyenko and playmaker Mathew Witt round a very interesting team.
Despite a 3-3 regular season record, BC Prienai missed the Last 16 in 2011-12 but is back to fight for that goal. As always, Prienai has a good number of local talents, such as point guard Zygimantas Janavicius, scoring ace Arturas Milaknis, power forward Gediminas Orelikas or veteran bomber Gintaras Kadziulis. Versatile talent Siim-Sander Vene, Tautvydas Slezas, Paulius Ivanauskas and Arnas Labuckas add depth to a tough team used to compete hard against anybody.
CEZ Nymburk international department director Ondrej Simecek:
"We think that our group is really tough with four teams of high quality. We are happy to play against Hapoel because they are friends from Israel. Budivelnik proved their quality in the Ukranian League and the Eurocup before the last couple of years. We already played against Prienai last season andlost against them at home. We are focused and excited to start the Eurocup season."
Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem general manager Gidi Dodi:
"From our experience in the Eurocup already, we know that all the teams are strong and difficult. The Eurocup has always top level teams with good quality and tough to beat. Fortunately for us we didn't land in Unics Kazan's group, so we wil do our best to go as far as we can, as always."
BC Budivelnik Kiev general manager Gediminas Navikauskas:
"All groups are strong because this is the second tournament in Europe. There are no weak teams in this tournament and we are happy to play against Nymburk because it's not far away from Kiev. Jerusalem is a longer trip and personally I am happy to play against a Lithuanian team since I am Lithuanian. It is a strong group and it will be very difficult to make the Last 16. We will try to make it like two years ago, when we reached the Quarterfinals."
