The race for the weekly MVP honors in Round 3 didn't have any competition as Maccabi Haifa Bazan's Donta Smith dynamited the race with his huge triple-double that led his team to a smashing road win at VEF Riga, 73-94. Smith racked up an index rating of 41 comprised of 18 points - 7 of 8 2-pointers -, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 steals and 6 drawn fouls. It was only the fifth triple-double ever in Eurocup competition - second for a visiting team - and the first in over six years. Previous triple-doublers were Todor Stoykov with Lukoil Academic, Meir Tapiro of Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem, Elvir Ovcina with Ostend and Pascal Perrier-David with Benetton Fribourg. Second in line this week was Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler's Vladimir Golubovic with a 33 index rating based on 23 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks, while after him was Radnicki Kragujevac's Sava Lesic with an index rating of 32 of 23 points, 9 boards and 3 assists.

MVP Smith was the best rebounder with his 16 boards followed by two players with 12 apiece, Neptunas Klaipeda's Vytautas Sarakauskas and Khimik Yuzhne's Romeo Von Travis. As for assists, Travis Diener of Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari dished out 13 of them. Dan Ewing of Paris Levallois, Philip Goss of Virtus Rome and Yotam Halperin of Hapoel Jerusalem had 4 each.
