Alba tabs Pavicevic as coach
Alba Berlin has hired a new boss, none other than head coach Luka Pavicevic, who inked a three-year deal with the German powerhouse. Pavicevic, age 39, replaces Henrik Rodl in Alba. As a player, Pavicevic was a member of the unique Jugoplastika Split team that won three consecutive Euroleague titles between 1989 and 1991, and also played for Buducnost, Cibona, Zrenjanin, Crvena Zvezda, FMP and Beobanka in former Yugoslavia, Rabornicki in FYROM, Besancon in France, Anwil Wloclawek and Ostrow Wielkopolski in Poland, Tapiolan Honka in Finland, Sopron in Hungary, Hapoel Nahavia in Israel and the University of Utah in the NCAA. He started his coaching career in 2003, when he joined OKK Beograd in Serbia. He has also coached Atlas and Hemofarm in Serbia, as well as Panionios in Greece, to which he led to the German League semifinals last season. "We are convinced that Luka Pavicevic is the candidate that fits best in our program," Alba Berlin general manager Marco Baldi said. "He always made the most out of his teams throughout his coaching career."
