Just after naming a new head coach, Panionios leaped into the transfer market and announced three signings. Guards Giannis Kalambokis, Giannis Georgalis and power forward Dimitris Katiakos will all play under new boss Minas Gekos this season. Kalambokis (195, 29) grew up with Neoi Palatianis and then played for Paleo Faliro, Olympiacos, AEK and PAOK, where he averaged 8 points, 2.7 boards and 1.8 assists in 12 ULEB Cup games last season. He averaged 6.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in the Greek League last season, helping the team to finish fifth in the standings. As a member of the Greek national teams, Georgalis won the gold medal at the 2002 European Championships for Young Men and the silver medal at the 1999 European Championships for Cadets and at the 2005 Mediterranean Games. Katiakos (205, 20) arrives from Esperos Kallitheas and is a member of the national junior men’s team.
