Veremeenko becomes new Eurocup rebounding king!

Vladimir Veremeenko of Banvit Bandirma joined the ranks of Eurocup greats on Wednesday when he became the the competition's all-time leader in rebounds by pulled 8 more of them, 6 offensive and 2 defensive, in a home win against Krasny Oktyabr Volgograd. With those 8 rebounds, Veremeenko new total of 476 is five more than the previous leader, a Eurocup institution, Andre Riddick, who had played eight seasons in the competition with Spirou Charleroi. Veremeenko is in his eighth Eurocup season also, having played the first two with Khimki Moscow Region, the next five with Unics Kazan and now with Banvit. Veremeenko has needed 99 appearances to reach the 476 figure for an average of 4.81 rebounds per game, projecting to 9.10 per 40 minutes. Of his 476 rebounds, 167 have been offensive - ranking Veremeenko second all-time, just behind Riddick's 183 - and 309 were defensive - putting him third behind Radoslav Rancik and Tariq Kirksay. Veremeenko's best rebounding game was on March 23, 2011 as he pulled 12 for Unics in the Eurocup Quarterfinals against Pepsi Caserta. They went on to become Eurocup champions together later that season.
