Damir Rancic Panellinios signed combo guard Damir Rancic for the remainder of the season, the club announced over the weekend. Rancic (24, 198) is not a new face for the Athenian team, as he played there at the beginning of the 2006-07 season, averaging 10.2 points in nine Greek League games. He grew up with KK Split and has also played for Plastic Solin, Cibona Zagreb, Panellinios, and BC Kiev. Rancic began the 2007-08 season with Olimpija Ljubljana and then moved to Solin in his native Croatia. Among his career highlights are one national championship and one national cup with KK Split and one national championship with Cibona Zagreb. In the 2005-06 season, Rancic averaged 9.1 points in 10 Euroleague games with Cibona Zagreb. To make room for Rancic, Panellinios released Melvin Sanders, who missed the start of the season after suffering a broken collarbone in a car crash and contributed little in three appearances off the bench. The moves were the first since new head coach Elias Zouros took over last week.
