Azovmash adds Salyers, Capin, Serapinas

Marc Salyers Azovmash Mariupol has announced a trio of big moves that establish the team as a Eurocup threat with the signings of Marc Salyers, Simonas Serapinas and Aleksandar Capin. Salyers (205, 29) is the reigning Euroleague Basketball Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner after averaging 21.8 points per game with Chorale Roanne last season. The forward played two seasons at Roanne, leading that club to a historic French League championship in 2007. He previously played for Gravelines-Dunkerque and Pau-Orthez in France, SS Montecatini and Cimberio Borgomanero in Italy, Oyak Bursa and Fenerbahce Istanbul in Turkey and the Pusan KTF Magic Wings in Korea.

Capin (186, 25) is a well-traveled point guard with lots of experience at the high levels. He suited up for Whirlpool Varese and Cimberio Varese in Italy last season, before moving to Greece where he helped Panionios On Telecoms finish the year in third place. He averaged 8.3 points per game with Panionios in the Greek League. Capin has played for Krka Novo Mesto in Slovenia, Telekom Bonn in Germany, Gravelines in France, Panellinios in Greece, Reggio Calabria and Varese in Italy during his career. Capin also participated at the 2005 and 2007 European Championships as a member of the of the Slovenian national team.

Serapinas (197, 26) is a swingman with outstanding shooting range. He finished the past season in Poland with Prokom Trefl. Serapinas spent a season-and-a-half before that with Aris Thessaloniki in Greece. He has also played for Zalgiris Kaunas, Atletas Kaunas, Alita Alytus and Nevezis Kaidenai in his native Lithuania. Serapinas brings plenty of experience to the club as a Euroleague veteran with 64 appearances in the continent’s top club competition under his belt.
